Today, Tumblr and the Society for News Design, in collaboration with the office of Congressman Mark Takano (CA-41) announced the first annual “International Chart Day,” to take place on April 26th.

Charts and other variations of information graphics have been around for hundreds of years, and are an important tool for making complex information easier to understand. The growing debate over “fake news” is only going to increase the importance of the chart in dispelling untruths and countering intentional misinformation, and in creating a more informed society.

On April 26, chart lovers will unite to celebrate the first-ever “International Chart Day,” an opportunity for the infographic creating community to engage the public by sharing their favorite examples, further explaining the history and value of charts, and sharing insight in to how to create high-quality, visually engaging, informative visualizations.

(TV Shows) Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir hightails it seven spots to No. 2.
(Anime & Manga) Wish granted! Dragon Ball Super makes an eleven spot leap to No. 5.

Left out in the rain

(Movies) Lady Bird nearly swan dives off the list. It drops nine spots to No. 20.
(Ships) Lotura plummets twelve spots to No. 18. Is this royal ship over before it even began?
(K-Pop) We say mama mama moo~ Mamamoo (No. 18) falls five spots just a week after their comeback.
(Celebrities) Wakanda is forever, but Lupita Nyong’o’s time on Fandometrics might not be. She tumbles fourteen spots to No. 18.
(Video Games) Life is Strange takes a thirteen spot fall to No. 20. Strange, indeed.

There are few humans who have shaped the way we think about life, about humanity, about love, and about science as Stephen Hawking did. The loss of his life was felt all across the world. The response on Tumblr was so strong and heartfelt, it catapulted him to the No. 1 most talked about celebrity for the entire week.
